Many times throughout the day we will see our residents congregated in our library. Every Thursday we have a book club reading where we sit around the fire place and read one of our books. Some of our residents were school teachers, librarians, or just avid readers throughout their life and have a sense of peace when they can have the opportunity to continue reading and learning. Having a library here at Summerfield allows them to use their imagination to travel to anywhere they want or just relax before our meal times.
“I never feel lonely if I’ve got a book – they’re like old friends. Even if you’re not reading them over and over again, you know they are there. And they’re part of your history. The sort of tell a story about your journey through life.” -Emilia Fox
