Did you know 1 in 8 individuals in Utah are at risk of missing a meal today? This holiday season, Summerfield Retirement is collecting non-perishable food donations to donate to the local Utah Food Bank to help families in need.
Summerfield has five large bins we’re planning to fill with donations. We have bins located at each of Summerfield’s entrances (on 800W and 900 W). Please bring your non-perishable items and place them in the bins through December.
Items currently in high demand at the food bank are peanut butter, mac & cheese, canned meats (tuna, chicken, beef), chili, SpaghettiOs/Ravioli, canned fruits, and other boxed meals. Please donate items with all-natural ingredients, low in sodium and sugar, and with no high fructose corn syrup.
We will then drop all the donations off to the Local Utah Food Bank at Tabitha’s Way. Tabitha’s Way redistributes over 100,000 pounds of food every month! Last year Summerfield collected 250 pounds of food! We hope to collect even more this year to help Tabitha’s Way continue to distribute food to Utah families in need this holiday season.
We will also be collecting cash donations for the food bank. At our Christmas party on Monday, December 9th, we will have a gingerbread house silent auction. Staff and friends of Summerfield will be donating decorated gingerbread houses for the silent auction. Residents and family members will have an opportunity to bid on the gingerbread houses at the party on December 9th. Last year we donated $200 to the food bank. All proceeds from the gingerbread house silent auction will be donated to Tabitha’s Way to help them in their mission of helping families and individuals through tough times.
We are excited to be a part of this holiday food drive to help Utah families in need! Making our community feel like home is more than our business … It’s our mission!
